Autofill. - any progress? At all? When might we expect this basic function to work?
I'm really, really frustrated by 1P8 (and I'm sorry to be posting again on this, and I know I've had some comms with the 1P peeps, but frankly the problems just aren't getting better as the continual and extensive posts in this forum indicate). It would be nice to get at least some sort of indication as to when this might get fixed.
Here's just one of my issues.
I opened a login page on my Safari web browser.
If I click in the login username field (1 click), the 1P symbol appears on the right hand side of that field (but nothing happens). If I then click on that symbol (that's now 2 clicks), nothing happens.
If I press CTRL+/ (which is configured in 1P to Autofill - nothing happens
If I click on the 1P symbol on the top taskbar (what was always 1P mini but now has some other name), I have a menu drop down, which requires me to click (again) to open 1P. If I click that to open 1P, I then have to search for the login - i.e. it hasn't opened at the login for that page.
If I click 1P in the browser, HURRAH, I get a browser pop up which contains the right login info (but I have to click again to autofill) and one other completely irrelevant item - my personal identification info.
So that last option is currently the best way of three. One works, one does but is a faff, and one just doesn't work. As a user experience, it's pretty painful.
Come on guys, you can't tell me this is an improvement over 1P7 which was virtually flawless for me.

I 100% agree with this post and have had the same issue you're describing. I'm surprised 1P8 was approved for release considering how much of a step back it is from 1P7. Not only in design but also in features and performance. One of my biggest frustrations is you no longer use a shortcut to reveal password information from the mini.

I am having similar issue, half the time when I click on the 1P icon in a user name field nothing happens, The only way to get 1P to responds is to use the icon in the Mac status bar, none of the shortcuts work

We're currently investigating a situation where the inline menu might not display as expected. If you quit Safari completely and re-open it, does the inline menu work?
You can configure the action that happens when you click the 1Password icon in the menu bar by going to Preferences > General > Click the icon to.
As for why pressing ⌘+\ isn't working for you, that definitely doesn't sound right, so I'd be happy to take a closer look. Just to confirm, ⌘+\ is configured as the keyboard shortcut for Autofill in 1Password preferences?
The "Suggestions" category in the 1Password pop-up will show any relevant Login items, as well as your Identity items so they can be filled.

I’m already in (an extensive) email exchange with Dave W about CTRL+/ and my other issues and have submitted several sets of data for analysis, but no joy yet.
My post above was more a general cry of frustration that what was an exceptionally good application in v7now seems to be full of bugs in v8 - just look at the pages and pages of submissions about issues on this forum (I know it’s a completely new app), and a significantly worse user experience all round.
I always recommended 1P to friends as a great pw manager - I can’t in all honesty do that at the moment with v8 - it just feels unpolished and unfinished.0 -
If I quit safari or quit 1P completely and reopen this normally resolves the issue
I am inclined to say it only happens if 1PassWord is locked and requires authentication but can’t be 100% sure that this is always the case

To confirm if I quit Safari completely and then reopen inline autofill is available.
It's a bit of a faff to have to close down an application only to reopen it to get 1P inline autofill to work though......and whilst I appreciate it's being investigated, as I alluded to above, problems with autofill seem to have been a persistent issue since v8 was released - its such a fundamental if not THE fundamental part of 1P for me, and that's what's so frustrating.0 -
Any updates (on my specific issue or any update at all) in the last month or so or is it just me? Still on 8.7.3
I still have no resolution to the fact that if I go to a login page, the inline 1P option normally doesn't work at all, unless I quit Safari completely and reopen. The menu bar pop up gives me an option to Open 1P (which is already open so why?) and then SEARCH for that login username/ password and the browser pop up will work - hey 1 out of 3 ain't bad......
I'm increasingly frustrated by this. 1P used to be so good...0 -
