What happens to my Kubernetes Secrets if 1Password is experiencing an outage?

I would like to know what happens to my Kubernetes Secrets if 1Password is experiencing an outage.

Environment:

  • Kubernetes cluster
  • 1Password Connect server and Operator are running in a Kubernetes cluster
  • 1Password CRDs and Secrets are created in a Kubernetes cluster

My prediction is my Kubernetes Secrets will still be up because they were created via 1Password CRDs and sync via the Operator when there is a change to a Secret in 1Password.

Please let me know if my prediction appears correct.

    Hi there,

    thank you for the great question. If 1Password has an outage you should still be able to access your secrets as they are:

    1. synced with connect
    2. recreated as kubernetes secrets, so even if connect is down you have access to these

    The one thing to note is that while 1Password is down you would not be able to sync any updated/newly created secrets.
