Make PIN the default instead of fingerprint?

I have a new Windows 11 laptop, which I usually use with the lid closed (external monitor and keyboard), which means that the fingerprint reader isn't accessible. 1Password shows the "make sure it's you" step. It used to ask for my PIN. Now it asks for my fingerprint, and I have to choose "other options" to get the PIN entry. Is there a way to make it so that PIN is the default? I would rather not turn off my fingerprint reader. The machine should know that the lid is closed and therefore that the fingerprint reader is not accessible.

Extension Version: 2.3.8
OS Version: Windows 11 Pro

  • Hello @billrosenblatt,

That's a great question. 1Password asks Windows to authenticate you through Windows Hello and setting a default option is something we have no control over.

As you have mentioned, using the More choices option from the Windows security dialogue box, is the only option to change from fingerprint to PIN.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thanks!
