I would like to have support for ECC ssh keys - they are used to access a cluster, and having them in 1password would be great.

  • Hey @bpiwowar:

Great question. The 1Password SSH agent currently supports both RSA keys and Ed25519 keys. Are you looking for a different keypair type in the ECC family other than Ed25519? Let me know.

    Hi Jack,

sorry didn't check the type of the SSH key (I naively thought that ECC was a new encryption scheme). The type reported by ssh-keygen -l -f is ECDSA-CERT. Hopefully, this can be supported by 1password.

    thanks

  • Hey @bpiwowar:

As it currently stands, ECDSA keys were left out because they don't provide additional benefits over Ed25519, other than legacy reasons, where RSA usually makes more sense.

With that said, we haven't fully ruled out ECDSA yet. It's still on the list, and I've shared your feedback on the internal discussion we have tracking adding support for ECDSA keys.

OK thanks, it would be great as in that case I have no choice over the type of SSH key.
