Unable to trigger quick access without manually opening app

I have configured 1Password 8 on my Mac Ventura to hide the icon in the menubar. Ever since I’ve done that , I find that I can’t trigger Quick Access without manually opening 1Password and authenticating. Is that the expected behavior? Would love to have quick access without losing space to another menubar icon

Yes, with the menu bar icon missing (not in use) it is akin to a full quit of the app and you would be unable to open Quick Access. I am a big user of apps like Bartender for Mac to keep other apps out of my menu bar. You might find something like it to fill your need. That is the only workaround I can think of.

Thank you @ag_tommy , that makes sense. I used to use Bartender pre-ventura, and liked it. Hoping Apple bakes that functionality into Control Center eventually
