is there way to put a time constraint on shared password. lastpass (RIP) had this as a capability. the idea is to use it as a way to share documents upon some ones illness or demise.

  • Hi @pathfinder76,

You can securely share copies of passwords and other items you’ve saved in 1Password with anyone, even if they don’t use 1Password.

When you share an item, you’ll get a unique link that you can send to others with the ability to choose when the link expires and who it’s available to: anyone with the link or only specific people.

For more information on this, you can take a look at our Securely share 1Password items with anyone article.

Otherwise, when creating a 1Password account, you are prompted to save what is called the Emergency Kit as a PDF.

Included in the Emergency Kit is the sign-in address for the account, the email address associated with the account, the Secret Key for the account (which is required when logging into the account from a new device), a QR code and lastly, a blank space that your account password can be filled into.

My suggestion would be to either put this in a location listed in your will to make it available to the necessary persons at the point when it is required or to include a secondary copy in your will itself. Something like that would be the best suggestion I can provide you with! 🙂
