4 years ago1Password 8 in Safari overrides CMD+SHIFT+X
Hi there,
At my work we use CMD+SHIFT+X globally system-wide to open bugs in our bug tracker. I have almost a decade of muscle memory built up for this and use it many times per day.
1Password 8 seems to hijack that in Safari and every time I use this keyboard shortcut to open a bug in our bug tracker 1Password pops up.
Is there a way to disable this keyboard shortcut or remap it?
1Password Version: 8.7.1
Extension Version: 2.3.5
OS Version: Ventura
I'm happy to share that Safari 26, included with macOS Tahoe, now includes the ability to change browser extension keyboard shortcuts. 🎉
This means you can change the default shortcut (Command–Shift–X) for opening the 1Password pop-up, in case you already use that combo for something else. Here’s how to set it up:
- Update to macOS Tahoe.
- Open Safari.
- Click on Safari next to the  Apple logo in the menu bar and then click Settings.
- Click Extensions.
- Choose 1Password then scroll down and edit the shortcut.
I hope that helps!-Dave

Thanks Jack. Using a different browser isn’t possible for me so I’m looking forward to having the ability to customize this shortcut. Thanks!

Hey @bunchjesse:
At this time there isn't any way of remapping or changing the Open 1Password shortcut in 1Password for Safari, but I'll share your thoughts with the team on an internal discussion we have on the topic. With that said, it's possible to remap the shortcut for 1Password in other browsers, so if you're able to use a different browser, that might improve your state of play.
