Just signed up for the family plan - I previously had the iOS app plus a readonly version on my mac - I entered a new account on my iPhone hit sync but the account is not showing up on my mac

Have you signed into your 1Password Families membership in 1Password for Mac? Instructions can be found here:

P.S. The "Primary" vault should be deleted from all devices once your data is migrated to your membership.
