Why does the extension need all these permissions
I read your blogpost the other day, about a new version of 1password-x so I thought, lets give it another try.
Now this is all the permissions it needs... thats a lot.
Is there somewhere I can find why it needs stuff like privacy settings and access to downloads, apps, themes, extensions?
And as a security conscious person, I was like no way, as far as I know browser extensions are the biggest security risks on the internet, and all I want your extension to do, is fill passwords (so the change webiste data permissions are understandable, as are the connect with native applications one)
Anyway, some insight on this would be awesome!

Hey @shoogland – I understand why you'd be concerned, and I appreciate it from a security standpoint. :)
That being said, I'd be happy to explain the reasoning behind 1Password X requesting each permission.
Read and change all your data on the websites that you visit
Open URLs, and fill and save logins and other details in your browser.Communicate with cooperating native applications
Connect with 1Password for Mac and 1Password for Windows.Display notifications
Notify you when there's an update.Modify data that you copy and paste
Copy item details to the clipboard.Manage your downloads
Download your Emergency Kit and diagnostics.Manage your apps, extensions, and themes
Disable the 1Password extension if it's installed alongside 1Password X.Change your privacy-related settings
Set 1Password X as your default password manager and disable browser autofill prompts.I hope that alleviates your concern, but please feel free to ask us any question you may have!
