Where is my vault (Dropbox or 1PW?). Wan't to drop dropbox.

I have a multi-device setup that is working fine. Has been in place for years. I have Dropbox acct and 1PW membership. I can see and organize vaults on the 1PW member site.

Problem is, I am not sure what method I am actually using for the sync process, and I want to drop Dropbox due to price increase. My app preferences show that for Primary vault I have selected Dropbox > 1Password.opvault, the other options being iCloud/Folder/none.

There is no option for syncing via "1Password" account.

How do I determine if my synching is actually using my 1PW membership, rather than Dropbox. I am afraid to drop dropbox; if that is still my sync method things could go south quickly.

1Password Version: 7
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: 10.13
Sync Type: 1PW or Dropbox

  • Hi @Mike8888

When using a 1Password membership the Primary vault should be deleted. All membership vaults sync through your 1Password membership, but the Primary vault is not a membership vault. Instructions for deleting the Primary vault can be found here:

    http://support.1password.com/migrate-1password-account/#set-up-your-other-devices

Once you have verified all of your data (including any recent changes) appears on https://my.1password.com please delete the Primary vault.

Thank you Ben. Looks like (perhaps years ago) I did delete the Primary from the 1PW member site.. However, the app itself is still referencing a Primary vault within Preferences>Sync as being managed by Dropbox (stored on Dropbox)

Therefore, from your comments I will assume that Dropbox is not really used for anything anymore, and have unselected the Primary vault within preferences. Pray.

The Primary vault really needs to be deleted entirely using the instructions above. :+1:
