Prevent Auto-Update

Hi Agilebits,

This afternoon I received a mac password popup saying 1P7 wanted authorization to update itself. How do I disable auto-update. I will --Never-- allow an app to update itself until I've read what the changes are. It's really bad form for 1P7 to attempt this before I've agreed to the popup IMO (upgrade popups are also pretty annoying but this is a security tool ... so ok).

  • Hi @Verbie

In 1Password under Preferences > Updates you can uncheck the box "automatically check for updates." I would caution you against doing so though. As you alluded it is important to keep up to date with your software, especially your operating system, web browser, and 1Password.

    Hi,

Is there a command/script to change this setting silently on Macs for 1Password7? I tried the one for 1Password6 described in an older post but it didn't work with my 1Password7 on my machine.

    defaults write 2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper CheckForSoftwareUpdatesEnabled 0

We're in the exact same scenario

  • @Nonylus,

defaults write com.agilebits.onepassword7 AutoInstallSoftwareUpdatesEnabled -bool NO would be the equivalent of unchecking the "automatically install updates" checkbox.
