Chrome autofill API revisited?

Per Henry on reddit back in November, there was an experience issue using the Autofill API. I've been using the a11y autofill method to get Chrome autofill to work, but realized that it causes some weird side effects with the Pixel Launcher (the drawer arrow shows up at all times because an a11y service is enabled). Has there been any further developments on using the native autofill API in Chrome?

    Just noticed that Android Q seems to have auto-fill API improvements. Any chance that those will help resolve the issue?
