WLAN server is rate limited! Please try again in X seconds.

I am trying to do a WLAN sync between a Mac (10.14.6) and iPhone (iOS 13.0) using the latest versions of 1Password -- 7.3.2 from your store on the Mac and 7.4.1 on iOS. Whenever I open the all on iOS it would show "WLAN server is rate limited! Please try again in 5.0 seconds. 1Password encountered a problem", then when I press Dismiss, it would show the same but with 10 seconds, 15 seconds... Typically I have the WLAN server on the Mac switched off, so I haven't seen this error between the last sync (which was some 3 months ago) and now. The only way to use 1Password on iOS when on the same Wi-Fi network is to turn the WLAN server off again, as these errors continue popping up and I can't go to any of the menus on the iOS. The sync doesn't work either.

I am not sure if this is the problem with 1Password on the Mac or iOS, but I am posting on the iOS section as I see error on the iOS app.

Any ideas how to fix this?

  • Hi @lpn

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble syncing over your WiFi network. There are a number of variables involved with with making the WLAN Server work. We've cultivated all of the troubleshooting knowledge that we have for it into a comprehensive guide, which we've made available here:

Note that there is currently a bug which prevents the "last sync" time from updating. As such this is not a reliable indicator as to if sync is working. Instead, please verify that changes have synced. Please let me know how it turns out.

    Ben
