Updating password in app -> Safari
An app prompted me that I needed to reset (update) password, and took me to its website. I couldn't figure out how to get a new password generated for the site, and ended up bouncing back and forth with the 1Password app, generated a new Password item, pasted it into the website. Eventually 1Password asked me if I wanted to create new Login, I allowed it, now had 2 Logins for the site, copied the new password into the original Login and deleted the new Login.
Maybe I was half asleep when I did all of this. Is this supposed to be something that should work smoothly? Or which I could have done at least slightly more efficiently?
I have strong passwords everywhere it is possible to do so, and almost never reset passwords, so I don't think I know how to do it on the Mac! I've never done it.
1Password Version: iOS 7.4.1

Hi @Tonetony
This guide should help. :)
Change your passwords and make them stronger
It does assume that you've already set up the 1Password share sheet extension, so if you haven't done that there are details on how to do so in this guide:
Use the 1Password extension to fill in Safari and apps on your iPhone and iPad
I hope that helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Got it to work. Whew. Thanks.
It's the sort of thing one uses so rarely, it's hard to imagine I'll remember the steps. I think what I'll remember is that I should look it up :).
The steps for the Mac are also a little tricky. I'm experimenting with this very discussion forum.
The second link describes using the share sheet to login to sites, but seems superseded now. Maybe it still works but is only needed with older versions of iOS.
Speaking of which, is it necessary or advisable, when updating one's passwords, to tap in the first entry field where you'd enter the new password before tapping the share icon? It doesn't appear to be useful and may well be harmful.
If you do tap in that field iOS thinks it's a password field and 1Password buttons appear on the keyboard as they would during a login. You can still tap the share icon, but at this point things are starting to get confusing. Something that I did made the URL in the 1password pop up look something like :// so I canceled and started over.

Glad to hear it worked out.

While we typically recommend Password AutoFill now due to its ease of use and better / more ubiquitous integration the share sheet extension is still relevant and offers capabilities that Password AutoFill does not (e.g. the ability to fill identities and credit cards).

I don't see why it would be necessary.

This is a known issue that our development team is working on tracking down. I'm sorry to hear you ran across it. Hopefully we can get it fixed up soon.
