How do I get past the “Meet your secret key” screen in Safari using iPadOS v13.1.2?

I’ve opened and saved the PDF but there’s no way to make it go away.

  • Hey @Farmertom1712

You should be able to close the tab in Safari once you've saved the PDF.

Thanks, Ben, but that doesn’t help. Here’s the sequence I’m experiencing:
    1) I log into 1Password in Safari and am presented with the “Meet your Secret Key” popup over my home screen. The only action available is to click on the Download button.
    2) I click on Download and am presented with the “1Password Emergency Kit” PDF which I can print, save, etc. Then I am stuck - there is no way to get back to the previous page - no action buttons and clicking on the Safari back arrow brings me to the login page. Closing the tab forces me to open a new tab and navigating to the 1Password site again which displays the “Meet your Secret Key” popup. So I seem to be in a loop.

BTW, funky things are happening when I have this window open and tab back and forth to 1Password...I can no longer add to this response and have to start over.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that the other day I upgraded from iOS 12 to iPadOS 13.2.1? Apparently Apple upgraded Safari, too...

Ah, interesting... That is indeed different than I was expecting. I just tried logging into my 1Password account from a fresh iPad and did not experience that same problem. I wasn't presented with my Secret Key / Emergency Kit at all. I wonder if perhaps Safari on the iPad is not registering with the site the fact that it has downloaded the kit?

Do you have a computer you could use to download the kit? I believe once you've done that it should stop presenting it / prompting you to download it. In the mean time I'll look to see if we know of any workarounds for this situation.

Yes, indeed. Safari on iOS actually now is essentially indistinguishable to websites from Safari on macOS, so things that had previously been gated e.g. for iOS only vs macOS only are likely no longer being properly gated with the iPadOS 13 update. I think that may be the problem we're running into here. My suspicion is Safari on iOS is telling us it is just like Safari on macOS, and so we expect it to be able to behave in the same way... which it can't, quite.

    Hi Ben,
It does look like Safari on the iPad is not registering with the site the fact that it has downloaded the kit.

I am unable to log onto my 1Password account through Firefox on my Windows 10 desktop. I correctly input my email address, secret key, and master password and get a message that my email address and/or secret key are incorrect. I did this 5 times to be sure I had not made a typo. (I submitted a separate support ticket for this...)

    What now?
