Different 1Password behavior for two banks

I have apps for two different banks on my iOS device (running 13.1.2). One app offers me the correct password when the keyboard comes up. The other bank only offers a generic "Passwords" option. Do I have something in 1Password configured incorrectly or is the problem with the 2nd bank's app?

    Hi @DeltaSeven!

It is possible that there might be something wrong with this second app, if the first one works. Can you confirm that the login item for this second bank, in your 1Password app, has a website field with the correct bank URL?

It does have a website field with the correct bank URL. It shows: https;//online.citi.com/US/login.do

  • Hi @DeltaSeven

Thanks for that information. I installed and tested the Citi app.

The problem is that they haven't updated their app for compatibility with Password AutoFill yet. Apple has designed Password AutoFill such that it'll work to some degree just about everywhere. But for it to work properly the app has to support it. Citi does not. Specifically, at a minimum, Citi would need to add an Associated Domain to their app in order for this to work better:

Setting Up an App’s Associated Domains | Apple Developer Documentation

To be clear: this is something their app developers would have to do in an update to the Citi app. There isn't anything you or we can do to improve the experience here. Right now the Citi app doesn't appear to have an Associated Domain specified at all.

Ben (and ag-ana), thanks for the help. I'll be looking for Citi to update their app.

  • You're very welcome. Fingers crossed. The day that all apps fully support Password AutoFill will be a good day. 😁Until then, it still "mostly" works, thankfully.
