Update to v7.4
1P v7.3.2 updated to v7.4 via "Check for Updates..." menu on Mac #1 without issues.
1P v.7.3.2 will not update via "Check for Updates..." menu on Mac #2. It says "You are up to date".
Why isn't Mac #2 seeing that v7.4 is available? Both installations are from the 1Password Store.

@kvnhe: That's a new one to me. Have you tried restarting your Mac? Maybe there's some odd caching issue. You can always install the latest directly from our website though:
https://1password.com/downloads/
Let me know how it goes.

I did try restarting the Mac and that didn't help. I went ahead and updated from the URL you provided and it's good now. I just don't want it to not be able to find delta updates within the app in the future.
If it helps your team, here's a screen recording to help confirm what was happening: https://f000.backblazeb2.com/file/kvnhe01/1P+Mac+7.3.2+Update+-+2019-11-09.mov

Hi @brenty, I have the exact same issue on my mac. I run 7.3.2 and no update shows up (System is Catalina)

I also had the issue occur on Catalina. The system that updated with no problem was on High Sierra.

Were you able to upgrade to the latest version by downloading a fresh installer from the Downloads page too?

Yes, that worked as expected. I‘m just very curious why the automatic updater cannot find the update :). Have a great sunday!

I have just updated 1PWD on 2 MacBook pros (one on Mojave and one on Catalina) from Apple App store version 1PWD 7.3 to 7.4.
The Catalina MacBook Pro is fine (1PWD recognises the master password) but on the Mojave machine 1PWD does not now recognise the Master Password.
The Master Password is recognised on the 'myname'.1password.com web interface and the 1PWD App on my iphone and ipad.I have tried deleting and reinstalling 1PWD from the Mojave machine but the situation does not change.
I have also tried rolling back to 7.3 from a TimeMachine backup from when I believe 1PWD was working. That now has the same problems.
p.s. I also just realised that I changed the HDD in this unit recently by cloning from the old HDD. I cant say for 100% sure the the timing lines up though because I did not try to run 1PWD on the Mojave machine for a while before changing the HDD.

Some more information - I put back the old HDD and checked whether 7.3 worked. It doesn't... so the problem goes deeper than just upgrading to 7.4.
Reinstalling 7.4 from the Apple store does not fix the issue.
Installing 7.4 from the 1PWD store does not fix the issue. As I said earlier - The password itself is not an issue because it works on 2 iPhones, an iPad, and another Macbook.
The password also work on the 'myname'.1password.com web interface. Is there a way to make 1PWD forget that it was ever on the Mojave MacBook and start again for just that machine?

OK - after more investigation I suspect the issue is not 7.4....
I have dug back in history and realised that I originally bought a Family version direct from the 1PWD website but that subsequent updates have been from the Apple Mac and IOS stores. - except for my Wife's Macbook Air which still has the 1PWD version of 7.3 operating. The Shared vault is still working between that Mac Air with the 1PWD ver 7.3 and my Mac Pro with the Apple version of 1PWD on Catalina.
Summary:
Macbook Air with Mojave and 1PWD store version - works fine,
Macbook Pro 1 with Catalina and Apple Mac store version - works fine,
Macbook Pro 1 with Mojave and Apple Mac store version - does not recognise master password
Numerous iPhones and iPads work fine.Could the mixed origins be the issue that I have rather than the 7.4 update for the Mojave Macbook?
Is there a way to get this all back on track? perhaps by having all from one source or the other?

That sounds as if there is a primary vault on the machine that has issues unlocking. If a primary vault is present you unlock the app only with that password. If you can confirm that all items that you expect are present on all other devices you can reset the 1Password App and then login to your account with your credentials (Secret Key and Masterpassword). https://support.1password.com/starting-over/

Thanks peacekeeper - to confirm, resetting the app will only affect that machine and won’t impact the vaults on the other Macs and devices that sync with it?

Same topic, different problem. I'm trying to update from 7.3.2 to 7.4. All browsers are closed, and 1Password is closed. After a few seconds, I get the message to close 1Password. I check that it is still closed. It is still closed. I click 'continue', and after another few seconds I get the message that it can't close 1Password, and is unable to update. What is going on? I really have never encountered such a troublesome upgrade. There are many more problems, but lets get this sorted first, as I hope the update might help.
MacOS is up-to-date Catalina, by the way.0 -
I also had the issue occur on Catalina. The system that updated with no problem was on High Sierra.
@kvnhe: Thanks for clarifying. That's expected due to differences between the two. We've made some changes in 7.4 to help on Catalina, so you should not encounter the issue when updating from 7.4. Please let us know if you do though.

@DavidPennycuick: That's correct.

Yes, just the App is resetted so you can login @DavidPennycuick :).
After a few seconds, I get the message to close 1Password. I check that it is still closed. It is still closed.
Did you use "quit 1password completly"? Press the control and option key to access this while quitting the app @flibberty

My response: Ok, I didn't know about that. I opened 1Password, and then closed it completely, then ran update again. This time, it didn't ask me to close the app. However, having apparently completed the process, the box just went back to 'update'. Also, I've closed and opened 1password a few times, and it is still 7.3.2

@peacekeeper: Thanks! :)
And the announcement here in the forum covers this in detail as well:
FAQ: Updating to 1Password v7.4 from a previous version gives an error message
Cheers! :)

OK, thanks, that seems to have done the trick. But why doesn't 1password quit completely when we click quit? I've never had to 'quit completely' before.

@flibberty: You're very welcome! Thanks for letting me know. :)
But why doesn't 1password quit completely when we click quit? I've never had to 'quit completely' before.
So you can use it in your web browser without keeping the main window open all the time. Cheers! :sunglasses:
