How to get option for one-time password in google

I have several accounts on google that works with one-time passwords from 1password. I set it up some time ago. I am trying to set up a new google account now with one-time passwords. I wonder if you know how to enable this now. I only get "Device", "Security Key a small physical device" or "Text message or voice call" as options. I think I will get a better answer here than on Google support. Skipping all the why questions :-) I have tried on iPhone and Mac using Chrome.

  • Hi @paalb

My apologies; I'm not sure off-hand why you wouldn't be seeing the option. I'm happy to leave this thread open though, and move it to the Lounge, in case any of our community members have any thoughts they'd like to share.

I solved it in a roundabout way via getting the Google Authenticator on the iPhone:
I installed the Google authenticator on iPhone.
Log in via Google app on iPhone
    Choose manage google account
    Sign in & security
    2-step
    Now you can Choose Authenticator

    Screenshot on second device
    Scan with 1password. Save!

  • Glad to hear you were able to find a workaround. :)
