I have a primary vault on iCloud but it doesn't appear when I sign in to my1Password.com.
Most of my logins are stored in the Primary Vault on iCloud with some personal and other specialist vaults which are held on under my name. When I lg on to my1Password.com the Primary vault doesn't show, and consequently on the browser extension it is not accessible.I suspect that I can alter then vault structure in the Preferences, but I am unsure what changes to make.

This is normal: the Primary vault is not stored on 1Password.com, but on iCloud. Therefore, it won't show up when you login to 1Password.com.
If you want all your items to be visible on 1Password.com, you need to move your existing iCloud items to 1Password.com, and then remove your Primary vault to avoid duplicates.
