Import from 1Password 6 not working

I have just subscribed to 1Password 7 and am trying to import all my logins, identities etc. from my 1Password 6 (version 6.8.9). The keychain is held on Dropbox and works perfectly on 1Password 6. On trying to use the import function, it imports the first 30 items of 768 items and then freezes. if I try and restart it, it just re-imports the same items so that duplicates are created. Can you please advise me how to address this issue?

    Hi @brianmou! Welcome to the forum!

    Do you still have 1Password 6 installed on your Mac? If you do, and you 1Password 7 alongside it, the new version should be able to automatically find the existing data for you.

    Hi, Thanks for the quick response. The installation process for 1P 7 appeared to uninstall 1P 6 but I have now re-installed it. That process seems to have installed 1P 7!! Agh!!!!

    @brianmou:

    No worries, we can fix this anyway :) If you open the Applications folder on your Mac, do you see 1Password 6 or 1Password 7 there now?

    But both keychains are in my Dropbox folder.

    @brianmou:

    Ok. If you now launch 1Password 6, do you see your items there?

    If you do, the quickest way to migrate them will be to move items directly within the app, without doing an import:

    1. Open 1Password 6
    2. Add your 1Password Membership account to the app
    3. Move your existing items to your 1Password.com vault

    Once you have done this, you can install 1Password 7 again and add your 1Password account to the app there too, so everything will be in sync without having to import data manually :)

    I do see all my items there. Should I delete the 1password.opvault file from my Dropbox as it has loads of duplicate items in it?

    @brianmou:

    Perhaps I need some more information to make sure we are on the same page before we proceed. You mention that your Dropbox vault already has duplicates, so I assume they were there even before trying any sort of migration to 1Password 7, correct?

    Because otherwise, if you did not have duplicates in your Dropbox vault before, it means that you somehow imported your Dropbox data to the Dropbox vault itself, instead of moving it to your 1Password.com account.

    I think the duplicates in the .opvault have come from repeated attempts to get the import function in 1P 7 to work. The duplicates are not in the .agilekeychain file that 1P 6 uses. Having tried to restart the import process several times it looks like it is repeatedly importing the same 30 items. (From my earlier post: "On trying to use the import function, it imports the first 30 items of 768 items and then freezes. if I try and restart it, it just re-imports the same items so that duplicates are created". I have added my 1Password membership account into 1P 6 but will hold off executing the 2nd item (Move existing items) until I hear from you. Brian

    This is where I am confused: if you have duplicates in your .opvault, it means that you tried to import your existing items to your .opvault file. But where are the items coming from? Is it your .agilekeychain file?

    I think I may have sorted it by using the copy and paste function in 1Password 6, deleting 1 Password 6 and reinstalling 1Password 7. All items seem to have successfully transferred. Thank you so much for your help!!! :-) Let me try it for a couple of days and I hope it will be ok to get back to you if I find there are issues using the new version. Thanks again. B
