Is there a way to include only specific special characters when using auto-generating passwords?

Almost all websites are now requiring passwords that include special characters or symbols; the trouble is that most I've encountered only permit you to use a limited set of characters. These characters below are the only ones that I've consistently found to be accepted:
! @ # $ % ^ & * .

Is there some way to limit the symbols to only include certain ones, like those above?

Hi @123jmail! Welcome to the forum!

This is not possible I am afraid: the password generator will use more symbols to make the password as random as possible. If a website refuses a special symbol, you will have to remove it manually.

I find the solution problematic. The pw is hidden by default and when it is revealed it is too hard to maneuver the cursor to the character(s) that needs to be replaced. What I have done, and by no means is it any better or ideal, is to regenerate the pw until i get one that meets the site's criteria.

  • Understood. Thanks for taking the time to let us know about this pain point. I'll be sure to let our development team know so they can consider how this might be improved in a future iteration.
