Install Extension though already installed

@Abhijit: It looks like something is just hung up with Native Messaging on your system. You should be able to resolve that by Quitting 1Password Completely -- Command Control Option Q -- and then the browser (make sure it's fully updated though) before restarting both. Otherwise, if something is interfering with that, rebooting and unlocking 1Password before launching the browser should do the trick. Let me know. :)

I have tried everything including complete shut down of the machine by closing all applications and restarting fresh and the behavior has not changed.

Thank you for the confirmation. This is happening because you are using 1Password X, which is an independent extension that can be used without 1Password mini or the 1Password desktop app. If you want 1Password mini to communicate with your browser extension, please download the companion browser extension instead.

I just want that my 1Password button at the top when I press should not tell me to install an extension to a browser when it is already installed. Whether it is X or normal we should be aware that some for of extension is present and avoid wrong messaging to user. We can not take shelter under the fact that we have no relationship with X. Everybody is 1Password family member ultimately. We should not forget this.
Thoughts?

@Abhijit: The message is correct, but I am sorry for the confusion. The 1Password desktop app cannot connect to its companion extension if it is not installed; hence the message your'e seeing. 1Password X, on the other hand, is designed first and foremost to work without the desktop app, for those who cannot use that. The desktop app is not telling you to "install 1Password X". But if you prefer 1Password X to the desktop app/extension, you can use that instead though. The desktop app is not needed in that case.

Isn't it that difficult for us as 1Password to know that X is already installed and it doesn't require any other extension now? Can I install both at a time?
Everything should work seamlessly that is the customer expectation. We can not tell him that this is different that is different and this can not talk to this etc. Here we just have to find out the existence of an extension in its X form.
I do not want to see that big message to install the extension though it is installed in the form of X.
Please review.

@Abhijit: Because 1Password X cannot communicate with the desktop app by virtue of it running entirely in the browser, that is not possible currently.
and it doesn't require any other extension now?
It does though, because the desktop app needs the companion extension in order to do anything in the browser.
Can I install both at a time?
You can. But if the companion extension for the desktop app is disabled, it also cannot respond when the desktop app queries it, and you'll get the same message. You need to have the companion extension installed and enable;ed in the browser for the desktop app to talk to it.

Then install the extension Ana and I directed you to above. If you but follow the instructions 1Password has been giving you and click the button to install the companion extension, that will satisfy both of your wishes there. :+1:

So to avoid the issue I am facing the solution is install both the extension simultaneously and keep both of them enabled. And that will not cause any issues to user. Is the understanding correct?
Thanks, Abhijit

That is correct.

Alternatively, use only the desktop app's companion extension. That's what's recommended since, though having both works just fine (that's what I have), it can be confusing. :+1:
