Is private vault same as shared with one person
I have a real problem using the Private vault since I often confuse it with the Primary vault due to the similarity in names. Since I cannot change their names nor delete them, I have created a new local vault called "Local" and moved all the contents of Primary into it (this also helps in syncing with the Windows version since that is what it is called in the Windows version). I want to do a similar thing with the Private vault. I have created a new online vault called Mine and want to move all the contents of Private into it. Before I do I want to make sure that it is going to be private. If I click manage access and only my login is selected is that exactly the same as having a Private vault? Also, if I add family members to the account, might they get access to anything other than the Shared vault without my knowledge?

Hi @volcano2
Would you mind elaborating on what you're using each of these vaults for, at this point? I'd like to better understand so I can offer the most appropriate advice for the situation. Essentially my question is: why not just use the "Private" vault and eliminate "Primary" and "Local" altogether?
If I click manage access and only my login is selected is that exactly the same as having a Private vault?
No it is not. Family Organizers can give themselves access to any non-"Private" vault if they so desire. They don't have access by default, but there is some level of trust required that Family Organizers will not add themselves to non-Private vaults that they have no business in. If you are the only Family Organizer, this may be of little concern, though we do typically recommend having at least two.

Thanks for your prompt reply @Ben.
1) Based on recommendations from security experts that I know personally and trust, I do want to keep some passwords out of the cloud altogether (e.g. banks, etc.) and store them only on my system or an encrypted locally attached device. As I understand it, these passwords would have to be kept in the "Primary" vault on Mac or "Local" vault in Windows (or I can create another vault with another name to store it locally). So I created a new local vault on my Mac version called "Local" and put all my passwords in there instead of "Primary". I would have preferred to simply change the name of Primary to Local but was advised in this forum that it is not possible. I then sync the local vault locally with the Windows version that I run under Parallels.
2) Another option would have been to change Private to another name but that is not possible either. So I decided to create a new vault "Mine" which I want to make my private vault. I will then not use the "Private" vault at all.
3) In case you are puzzled why I am taking all this trouble to create new names when perfectly good vaults already exist, it is because I have a mild form of dyslexia that makes me occasionally mentally transpose the two vaults whose names start with "Pri". I have already inadvertently created logins in the wrong vault.
4) Perhaps I do not understand what a Family Organizer is. Can you send me a link that explains how that works?
Thanks,
Jon0
