I'm running 1Password 7.4.1 but I'm not being prompted to save my new logins. I tried to add the extension to Safari but it's stuck on downloading.

Hi @weathersbk!
There is no need to download the Safari extension if you are using 1Password 7: the extension is already built into the app. All you need to do is activate it under Safari Preferences > Extensions tab. That window should look like this:

I tried that but nothing shows up now in extensions. And in launchpad it shows 1Password trying to install although my 1 Password application itself is working ok so I'm not sure what's going on and I can't get that application to stop trying to install.

perhaps I should've restarted... the thing you're supposed to do always - should I try that now?

I did restart at the very beginning to see if the extension would start to work but it didn't help. And just restarted again but 1Password is still trying to download. It shows it as "paused" now.

well it is showing up in my Safari extension preferences now at least.

That's great to hear, thank you for the update. Now, if 1Password is still not prompting you to save your login after you have enabled the extension in Safari preferences, let's make sure that the relevant option is enabled. In 1Password for Mac, please open Preferences > Browsers tab, and make sure that the option named Detect new usernames and passwords and offer to save them is enabled.
If 1Password is not prompting you to save your logins on any site, that's the first thing that I would check.

I'm not seeing the browsers tab?

it's checked but still not prompting me.

I'm still not having any luck at getting the program to prompt me to save a new login in spite of trying your suggestions. Is there anything else you can think of please?

ok - it finally worked - don't know how it was fixed though - but thanks!
