Just entered in beta mode
Some initial thoughts:
- syncing 805 items took about 8-10 minutes
- identities do no show a photo
- Software Licenses don't show app icons (I have been asking for this for years) Where logins now looks so sexy, the SL section is so "dull".
- scrolling through 541 logins not fluent (I know this is a beta
- opening in-app browser is not smooth and laggy (iPhone 4S with iOS 6.0.1)
- no confirmation when quick password is set
- missing count of (master) password entry tries

Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks again for the feedback, we'll keep improving and might change our mind on some of those changes depending on other feedback we get.
For me 1Password 4 is all about a new GUI experience and I therefore duly miss the Software license icons. With 207 Software licenses, scrolling becomes utterly dull. In that respect Wallet app (not being developed actively anymore) showed these and it was very nice.
Now Logins became so sexy please give this a thought as users will love it in an instant
btw I got no reply on the missing confirmation for the quick password entry.

I'm sorry for missing that, it'd be useful next time to use numbered list, so less chances of us missing something.
We do not plan to do the confirmation screen for the quick unlock code. There's no need since nothing bad happens if you forget it or did it incorrectly.
If it was entered incorrectly the first time when you unlock it in the app, the app will automatically reverts to the master password. If you think you may have entered the unlock code incorrectly, you can unlock with your master password, go straight to Settings to turn off the quick unlock code and turn it back to reset the code.
One more thing, we've released an update today with a performance fix for the scrolling, you can try now to turn on the Rich Icon support to see if the scrolling is much better now. Please let me know how it turns out.
Thanks!
Can these not simply be synced from the desktop version of 1Password? Obviously not going to be an option for those who solely use the iOS version, but it seems that would be the easiest way to retrieve them.
Of course, if they're not already being stored in the 1Password keychain, I guess that would also require 1Password 4 on the Mac

That's the plan I believe since many people drag custom images for their applications in the desktop apps. But it'd also be easier to retrieve from a central location to save bandwidth for users that might want to have a slim data file without the images to transfer their custom data quickly between devices and worry about the images later or make it optional and not download anything at all.
the latest beta definitely seems faster

This will be tough because we don't want to put megabytes of images into iCloud storage. Plus, I often do not have an app installed on my Mac and the icon is missing because of that.
With version 4 we are setting up an image server that is using Amazon CloudFront for very fast and secure image delivery.
The centralized server approach does seem like a much cooler idea, though, and I expect will also help sync speeds of the actual data to remain fast. Since 1Password of course can't sync in the background, ensuring that any changes I may have made on my desktop get to my device as quickly as possible after opening the app when I'm on the go strikes me as being a more important feature than having pretty icons on everything anyway

There's also another factor involved, 1Password 4 now support file attachments, so why transfer redundant data if those icons are pretty much the same data for everybody who visits the same site.
