No software has ever prompted me for this. EVER.

Is this legitimate? Why does it need my Mac password? Doesn’t sound right.

I get that prompt all the time on my Macs running various flavors of macOS. I consider it similar to allowing something to change registry values in Windows. Be sure to let me know how you've managed to avoid it all these years...until now that is.

When you initially installed 1Password, you would have likely seen this authorization prompt. 1Password likely needed admin access to install/modify files to run properly. What you are seeing is 1Password attempting to update those files. It's normal for apps to request this type of access when they need elevated access to files and folders. The specific reason you see it is due to 1Password pushing a new stable version out to the user base.

You should always be aware and cautious of apps requesting such access, and make sure it's one you trust. Thank you for reaching out to confirm the details.

I hope this helps resolve any concerns,

Thanks very much...just seemed really unusual! I'll go ahead and grant access and complete the update.
