Need help setting up my bank with tokens

My bank is First Technology Federal Credit union, and from within 1P7, I see a message saying that 2FA auth is available, with options to either not save or scan QR code, and a link to "Learn how to enable 2FA." That link goes here:

https://www.firsttechfed.com/tools-and-resources/tools-and-resources/what-you-can-do-to-protect-your-privacy#3

But whenI read that, I don't see anything about a QR code for scanning. I went through the bank's setup, and they have me using an iOS app called Entrust ST Mobile. I enter some values from the app at the bank, and vice versa, and then it's set up to generate tokens. I was hoping 1P7 could do this for me, but I don't see how.

All help appreciated.

Right, that's where I started—from that page, I went to the page it links to, where you can find the web site for the company in question, i.e. https://twofactorauth.org/#banking

I found my bank in that list, and the link associated with it is the one I posted in my original question. And on that linked page, there's nothing about a QR code, which is why I'm stuck, as 1Password's instructions say "When you see a QR code for 1Password to scan, continue with the next steps." I can't find/generate/create a QR code in any way that I caan find.

They're not using the standard TOTP implementation (or if they are it's wrapped in some financial mumbo-jumbo). It doesn't look like you'd be able to have 1Password manage the 2FA for this account (which is ironic given the history of this financial institution).

Thanks, I was sort of afraid of that. Guess I'll just keep the phone nearby when I logon on the computer.

  • Sorry @griffman. It may not hurt to send along a suggestion to them that they support the TOTP standard for 2FA.

Good idea, I've just done that.
