Why can't I update my 1Password database today?

Today I can't use 1Password because when I log into my app on Mac OS with a valid Master Password it displays my accounts with Read-Only in the top right and all of my passwords are revealed. What happened? How do I fix this?

The solution is to re-download the version from the 1password website.

I have the App Store version ... can I use it?

That fixed it ... many thanks. Do I really need a secret key? or was that misinformation?

  • @PatriciaW43

You would need a Secret Key, only if you have a membership. If not, then no, you do not need one.

Thanks ... I was never sure whether I needed a membership. Does that only apply if I subscribed (i.e. pay)?

  • @PatriciaW1943

Membership is a subscription service, yes. You can read more about it here:

Membership is the way forward with 1Password, so if you aren't already I'd encourage you to consider signing up. :)

I never needed a paid service since I am a non-business user. Thanks.

  • I'm not sure I follow. 1Password isn't free. :)
