Why do we have a foreign currency symbol when entering a bank account details ? I am in the UK - and we never use dollars ?

It's a generic icon for the bank accounts section. If you would like to change it, while in edit mode, double click the icon, from here, you can use your own icon, through drag and drop.
Perhaps you don't like the icon you chose and want to revert to the generic one, again in edit mode, select the icon, and then press the delete key.
