Bug report - 1PasswordX beta and Duo confusion

edited August 12 in 1Password X (beta)

Apologies if I get this wrong - it's my first attempt at a bug report!

Steps to produce

  1. Use 1PasswordX beta and Teams account with Duo 2FA
  2. Wait for the Duo challenge

Expected behaviour

  1. Get the Duo challenge
  2. Trigger a Push authentication
  3. Continue

Actual behaviour

A new browser tab opens every few seconds and a notification pops up too. It's a real struggle to authenticate because of this - I have to keep trying to quickly go back to the tab where I've started to authenticate and get the Duo push all done. By the time I've done this I normally have to close between 5 and 15 browser tabs.

Additional information

1Password 7
Version 7.7.BETA-4 (70700004)
1Password Beta
MacOS 10.15.6
1PasswordX 1.21.2

Think it's the same Chrome / Firefox / Brave / Edge.
Not sure if I've seen it in Safari.

1Password Version: 7.7.BETA-4 (70700004)
Extension Version: 1.21.2
OS Version: MacOS 10.15.6
Sync Type: 1Password Teams

    Hey @EdMartin ,
Thank you kindly for taking the time to report this issue!

We're actually aware of that problem. It seems that the beta feature of desktop app integration between 1Password 7 for Mac and 1Password X doesn't respond well when adding Duo to the equation. I've added your report to the bug's log, so thank you for that.

While I know it is not ideal, the only suggestions I can make is either disable desktop app integration in 1Password X's settings, or use a regular 2FA (not Duo) until we resolve this.

I do hope a fix will arrive soon though!
