Convoluted new password process

Why is 1Password's procedure for creating a new password and then converting that to a login so convoluted? Here's the process:

1. After generating password, you have to:
2. Click "Edit"
3. Click "Cancel"
4. Click "Convert to Login"
5. Click "Edit" again
6. Add email address

Why can't I just immediately convert a new password to login without having to hit "Cancel" first and then "Edit"?

We're paying serious money for this often-repeated workaround.

Hey @ubercool ,

The button to "Convert" a password item to a login item should not be a part of your regular workflow when saving your credentials on a new website. This button should be used in case you did not save a proper login on the website.

In case you're just trying to change your password and not saving an entirely new login item, this is the correct workflow: https://support.1password.com/change-website-password/

Regardless, the "Convert to Login" button is only available in the 1Password 7 desktop app, and not in the mini window you're lookin at initially, which is why you have so many steps and clicks in order to get to it. Instead, you can do the following:
1. Open the 1Password 7 desktop app.
2. Find the password in question and select it.
3. Click the "Convert to Login" button.

That's a lot less clicks :)

Unfortunately, that's incorrect:

1. Because 95% of the time a website will ask for your email address, or "create user name", on a separate screen, 1Password does not capture that information when using the "Generate a Password" function, and you later need to update the record to add it.

2. The Safari browser extension is what I use, not the desktop app, and that DOES show the "Convert to Login" button after you click:

a. "Edit"
b. "Cancel"

That's the only way to edit the record. Please review the process.

In future 1Password for Mac beta:

1. type your username into the field
2. click "Save in 1Password" in the inline 1Password menu
3. click "continue" on the page (whatever button they provide to move to the next page)
4. click into the password field which will either show a generated password, or click on suggestions and then generate password
5. click on the submit button
6. pick a vault and hit save
7. your password and username are in a single item in the vault you've chosen.
