Offline access with iPhone?

I'm trying to convince my parents they could benefit from a password management program. One of their requirements is offline access to their passwords on their iPhones. They travel frequently overseas and only get Internet access if it's offered at their hotel. Does 1Password have a way to access a local copy of their password vault without requiring Internet access?

Hi @OhioDad! Welcome to the forum!

Yes, 1Password automatically caches a copy of your data on the device, so it's available even without internet access. You can try it already by putting your device in airplane mode, and unlocking 1Password: all the data will be visible even without a connection ;)

    Thank you @ag_ana!

Oh, that's great news. This sounds a lot better than creating a separate local vault that saves to Dropbox or something. Does 1Password cache each of the vaults if they were using a family account or would it only be their private vault?

All data you see in the app (*) is cached locally. Indeed much better than standalone vaults. :)

(*) Documents (items in the Documents category) will only be cached if you've previously viewed them on a device

Excellent! One last question, do the cached items expire after a certain amount of time? Their trips could be several weeks long, maybe even a month. You guys have been very helpful

  • At this point the cache does not expire. :+1:
