Unable to fill site Straits Times

I am having problems after I signed up for The Straits Times. I log out and log back in and password filling doesn't work now.

https://straitstimes.com

I also did a reset password and the Password Generator could not paste password into the fields. The 1Password shortcut key Cmd + \ doesn't work but Opt + Cmd + \ works. Cannot fill passwords, but only the user id or email field can copy and paste directly from 1Password v7.6.

I am using Safari 14.0

    Hey @wkleem ,

I tested the website you sent over on Safari 14 and things seem to work correctly when I save a new login. Here's a video of one of my tests.

    Please try the following:
    1. Get to the website's home page, click the "Login" button so that the login form will pop up.
    2. Manually fill in your username and password as I did in the video.
    3. Save it as a new login as I did in the video.
    4. Refresh the page, click the "Login" button once more and try to autofill using the new login you just created.

Did it work well for you as it did for me?

Thanks for testing. It didn't work well for me. I had the login the same as the registration. I might try to save a new login?

I used Cmd + \ which it seems is being blocked for user id/password entry. Opt + Cmd + \ works.

    @wkleem:

Yes, please try saving a new login and let us know if that works :+1: :)

Please check your Safari Settings - Privacy - Prevent cross-site tracking? Is it checked or unchecked. I had a problem with Get Satisfaction forum software (now deprecated). I wasn't able to log in to the Adobe Feedback site with Prevent cross-site tracking checked. Adobe has now upgraded the site to the latest site software, so it works now.

It may be the same for Strait Times. I noticed that they use a 3rd party site as well.

I've noticed when I attempt to save a new Login the user id and password isn't getting saved? I tried a few times with the same results.

I only see the website : and website 2 URL : listed

I log out and now I have login issues.

I can save new login now. I had to wait for 1Password to prompt for me to save a login. Normally a manual save New Login (Cmd S) works but not for the Strait Times ?

Hey @wkleem. To confirm, do you now have a saved, working login? The site itself is currently giving me troubles — clicking Log In doesn't even work for me, with and without cross-tracking turned, as well as with and without my ad blocker. What is the exact URL you're on? I am directed to https://www.straitstimes.com/global when I visit the link in your original post.

I managed to save a new Login and it now works. Sorry for the trouble it caused. There might be some auto detection of location going on.

In Safari's location bar I type in www.straitstimes.com.

Would you mind trying a save New Login (Cmd + S) on Straits Times. I tried earlier but no user id or password was saved on the URLs website and website 2.

    Thanks.

    Here's what I did:

    1. I opened Safari and went to the website https://straitstimes.com
    2. I clicked the Log In button on the top right to open the login form.
    3. Manually input a username and password.
    4. Clicked on the 1Password icon in Safari's toolbar (next to the address bar) and then pressed CMD+S.
    5. The "Save/Update" prompt showed up. I saved it as a new login.
    6. Refreshed the page, opened the login form and autofilled using the new login I just saved. It autofilled both fields. The new login contains the username and password.

Granted, I was testing it with 1Password 7.7 beta, so there might be some slight differences in how it behaves. If you are still unable to save a new login properly, feel free to install the beta and test it there: https://support.1password.com/betas/

    Thanks @ag_yaron

There was something else bothering me. My passwords were "Terrible" passwords when they should have been good. I'll give 1Password 7.7 Beta a go.

  • @wkleem the beta may very well help with more accurate password ratings for items created after you start using the beta, too — let us know what you find.
