The Browser extension for Opera is no longer in your list that can be downloaded.
There used to be an extension for the Opera browser - Is Opera no longer being supported?

Hi @sabatin48!
Opera can use Chrome extensions now, so you can use the Chrome download button on our downloads page. You can find more information about the process here.

The latest version of the extension breaks Opera and causes it to continually grab focus. Will this be fixed as there is now no working extension solution for 1password in Opera. Installing the chrome extension reports that it uses APIs not supported in Opera.

Yes I've used it that way ever since the native extension was pulled. Something has updated recently and broken it,

None, because I had to uninstall it! But it was the latest version as I downloaded that today and reinstalled to try to fix the problem once I realised that it was being caused when that extension was active.

The reason I ask is because we offer two extensions: 1Password X and the companion browser extension (the older one which requires the 1Password desktop app to work) :+1:

Yes I tried to see if I could use the 1Password X extension but it seemed to require me to have a subscription not a standalone licence as I do. Is there a way that I can actually use that?

Not unless this problem is fixed it's not! :-) If it's a choice between moving from Opera or moving from 1password I expect I will have to move from 1password as I have no interest in running chrome or firefox again and without a browser extension it's just impractical.

I am unable to produce the results you experienced. 1Password installed within Opera (72.0.3815.207) with no issues. Do you have any other add-ons in Opera? If so, can you try disabling them temporarily? Which version of Opera, 1Password and macOS are you using when you see this occur?

Hi, I've already tried disabling other extensions. Aside from the one to install chrome extensions there is only one other anyway, The problem is unaffected by disabling anything other than the 1password extension. The main 1password desktop app is 1password4 and I'm on Windows 10. It all worked fine until yesterday so something has changed.

I have taken the opportunity to test the 1Password extension with Opera as well, and everything seems to be working for me too. I can open the extension and fill logins without problems. Can you please try quitting 1Password completely (right-click on 1Password mini in the menu bar at the top right of your screen > Quit 1Password Completely), and then relaunch 1Password? Do you see the same behavior now?
Since the extension itself has not been updated recently, I wonder what changed on the Opera side that could be causing this this for you.

Thanks for checking for me. I don't have that right click option (I assume you mean from the extension icon in the browser toolbar). Stoppng and restarting the 1password task from task manager however makes no difference and I'd already tried that. Opera has indeed updated but it's the version your colleague mentioned above (the latest) and I'm not sure it had updated before that when the problem first appeared. Is this perhaps an issue with 1password4, is that the version you tried to replicate the issue with?

If you are running 1Password 4, it might certainly have something to do with this. I suspect my colleague Tommy tested this on 1Password 7, our latest version. 1Password 4 has been discontinued 6 years ago, it has not received any updates since then, and no tests are being performed on it anymore. Do you see the same issue in 1Password 7?

Thanks, I thought it might be the case that you'd missed my earlier reference to 1Password4. I assume there is no way to upgrade to 1Password7 without paying for a new licence?
I've now found that the problem appears to be with the latest Opera update (or perhaps two). I manually rolled back to the version that should have been installed when the extension was last known to be working (72.0.3815.186) and everything appears to work as normal again. I'll follow up with Opera. Thanks for your help.0 -
Hi @lennier,
Indeed, 1Password 7 for Windows is a paid upgrade for the owners of 1Password 4. If you decide to upgrade, 1Password account is the way to go, as this is the best way to use 1Password right now and all the latest versions of 1Password will be included in your membership.
Please let us know what you find out in regards to Opera. If you have other questions about 1Password 7 or 1Password membership, we are always ready to help. Thanks! :+1:
