This Week @ 1Password - 11/26/2020

Happy Turkey-day, everyone! 🦃

As we wish you all a healthy, happy Thanksgiving — with the leaves changing color and the fall season ringing in full-swing here, let’s take a look at what we’ve been up to this week and see what we have to say.

1Password for Mac 🖥

This week we’re delighted to bring a BIG update to 1Password on your Mac. The first thing you may notice is the brand-new icon! It is tailored to be right at home in your Dock on macOS Big Sur, while also being cozy on previous versions of macOS. The vault doors have also been refreshed for a subtle, more modern look. And the item detail view has a thoughtfully considered new design. That’s not all though — we have three big features to improve the way you use 1Password every day!

New Safari Experience

1Password has a whole new experience in Safari — it will intelligently offer logins, credit cards, and identities right on the webpage. Furthermore, 1Password now deftly fills multi-page login forms and one-time codes. Using 1Password in Safari has never been better.

Virtual Payment Cards from Privacy

For our US-based customers, we now offer integration with Privacy in Safari. Our friends at Privacy protect online payments similar to how 1Password protects your passwords. Instead of entering your real credit card information, Privacy creates a unique virtual payment card for each service.
When you create a Privacy card using 1Password in Safari, 1Password will offer to save that virtual card so it’s ready the next time you need it.

Unlock with Apple Watch

1Password for Mac 7.7 expands the convenience of unlocking your information while maintaining security. You can now unlock 1Password from your Apple Watch on any Mac laptop with Touch ID, and many newer models of Mac mini, iMac, and Mac Pro. The best part is Unlock with Apple Watch works in concert with Touch ID, meaning you will get a prompt for both, and using either will unlock 1Password.

We are so excited to get all these fantastic new features into your hands! We hope you will enjoy using them as much we enjoyed making them for you.

1Password X 🚀

Hot on the heels of the fantastic new 1Password for Mac 7.7 release , we’ve got a new beta update bursting at the seams with great improvements and fixes for you to enjoy. Some things to look out for are smarter suggestions in login/registration forms and filling improvements to prevent overwriting anything you’ve already entered.

In addition, we’re thrilled to announce our first open source Rust crate: password-rules-parser 😍

While we never prompt you for a review within 1Password itself, seeing your 1Password review on the Chrome , Firefox , or Edge store would be really cool.

1Password for Linux 🐧

This is another week dedicated to squashing some bugs and tidying things up. You’ll see some subtle improvements to how the lock screen works and how we handle changes to your account while 1Password for Linux is running. Check out our release notes for the full details.

1Password for Android 🤖

Over in Android-land, 7.7.3.BETA-2 brings in some more improvements and bug fixes for you as a follow-up to our 7.7.2 release.

Among those improvements, we now handle more errors that can happen from a poor network connection by retrying sync automatically. We’ve also fixed a bug with refreshing the vault selection after signing out of an account and resolved an issue with displaying custom credit card types. Likewise, this beta update contains under-the-hood enhancements that improves the authentication process for 1Password accounts.

This Thanksgiving, we’re giving back 🦃

As we enter that season where we’re usually reflective, during a year when we all have more to reflect on than ever, our founder, Sara Teare, talks a little more about the importance of finding that centre when you need it most, and how we’re helping our team do that at 1Password over on our Blog.

We’re donating $1 to charity for every family that signs up to 1Password between Oct 12 and Nov 26. We’ll be donating to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada , Food Banks Canada and the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Random But Memorable 🎙

Is the fight against hospital ransomware the next big blockbuster movie? Exactly how much good can come from exam surveillance tools?

Matt also sits down with Privacy Officer, Pilar Garcia, to discuss all things privacy at 1Password. And obviously, we couldn’t leave you without the latest edition of Play Your Passwords Right – as usual, we had some time to kill at the end. 🚨

Here’s where you can listen to Random but Memorable:

We love this community, and we seriously value authentic feedback, and know our prospective customers do too. If you use 1Password with your business please take a few moments to help us reach our lofty goal for G2 reviews before the month ends!
