Unable to save login for JAF website

Is there any way to get around the problem of not being able to save logins for site where you can't go directly to the login page?

In the case of JAF (www.jaf.jp) the username and password are entered in a form at https://mr.jaf.or.jp/sso/frlogin.php but that page can't be opened directly. Manually entering it in the browser or using it as the site in the 1Password login record results in an error. You have to go to https://www.jaf.jp/pc/login/ first and click on the link there. There are 2 buttons on that page, one to proceed to the login page, the other to register for a new account but no fields to fill so 1Password doesn't treat it as the first page on a two page login.

Hey @gengakusha! Thanks for getting in touch.

I was able to both save and fill on the website you mentioned. Here's how I saved my item in Safari:

    1. Visit https://www.jaf.jp/pc/login/.
    2. Click the first orange button.
    3. Type your username and password into the proper fields.
    4. Before pressing enter, click Save in 1Password underneath the password field.
    5. Select the correct vault and click Save Login.
    6. Refresh the page.
    7. You should see the Login you just saved directly underneath the username field – click it to fill.

Let me know if you have any trouble!

    Thanks @kaitlyn
I don't think I explained the problem well. Yes, it is possible to save the username and password as you describe, I had already done that. However, it saves the login URL as the one which has the username and password (obviously). That page cannot be opened directly. So it is possible to navigate via the button on https://www.jaf.jp/pc/login/ and then filling using 1Password. However, it is not possible to use the "Go" button from within the 1Password and have it open the page for you as it is with most sites.

@gengakusha – I see what you're saying now. I apologize for misunderstanding the first time around. If you're set on using Go to open the item, you can add the https://www.jaf.jp/pc/login/ URL to your Login (in addition to the https://mr.jaf.or.jp/sso/frlogin.php URL). Here's what my item looks like, for example:

You'll still need to click the first orange button in order to proceed to the actual sign in page, but at least you'll be able to keep your workflow of clicking the Go button. :)

@Kaitlyn Thank you for the reply. Just to be clear, are you saying there is no way to just use 1Password once to sign into this site? For sites which require the username and password to be entered on different pages, you only use 1Password once and the password is autocompleted when progressing to the second page. In this case, after you open the first page and click on the login button, you have to go back to the 1Password icon, open the widget and click on "AutoFill".
The situation is now much improved, thank you, but I had hoped that it would be possible using 1Password only once to sign in.

@gengakusha – I'm happy to help! This doesn't seem like a 1Password restriction to me, but correct me if I'm wrong. The website requires you to visit the first URL, then click a button in order to redirect to the sign in form. Here's how I'd personally fill on this website, which only requires you to fill with 1Password once, but it sounds like your workflow is slightly different from mine.

    1. Visit https://www.jaf.jp/pc/login/ (either by typing it into your URL bar or by clicking a bookmark).
    2. Click the first orange button.
    3. Place focus inside the username field, and click your Login below the field.

You'll have to first visit https://www.jaf.jp/pc/login/ and click the button to redirect to the proper page. As far as I can tell, there isn't a way around that additional step for this website. Whether you open the website by clicking Open and Fill in 1Password or type the website in your URL bar/open it from a bookmark is up to you.
