YES Bank Password auto-fill no longer working

Hello,

It looks like YES Bank has updated its website and now no matter whichever method I use (auto-fill or drag-n-drop), it doesn't work. After 1Password auto-fills the password and I click the login button, I get invalid ID/password error. Further, I noticed that after the password field is auto-filled and if I click on the password field, the password disappears.

The URL is https://yesonline.yesbank.co.in/index.html?module=login. If that doesn't work, try this https://www.yesbank.in/retail-disclaimer.

I am having a hard time with manually entering the 16 character password and that too goes wrong and I am left with only two more attempts. Hence I have stopped using the bank's website for the time being.

As for the letter to banks, I did read that article but it won't work here because the bank sends all the concerns to the local branch and the people working here in the branch don't even know what password managers are. So it would be a waste of time and resources in sending that letter to my bank.

Any alternative solution would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Alok

  • Hey Alok.

I tried things out on this site and I experienced an issue as well, whereby the password automatically disappears after being filled. I've submitted a report to the development team for further investigation. I can't make any promises on this one, if the bank is actively fighting password managers, but we'll take a look and see what we can do. Unfortunately since drag and drop also doesn't work, my only further suggestion would be to view the password in Large Type, so you can carefully type each character one by one and make sure that no characters are skipped.

    Hi Michael,

    Thank you for your reply.

As your development team continues to works on this, I have found an alternative workaround for this problem.

I came across a very useful piece of software called "ClickPaste" - https://github.com/Collective-Software/ClickPaste and it can be downloaded from https://github.com/Collective-Software/ClickPaste/releases/tag/v1.0. It can paste clipboard contents as keystrokes to whatever location you click.

Using the program is fairly simple and the instructions can be found on the 1st URL itself.

I found this program very useful and was successfully able to login to the YES Bank website.

Hope other people find my solution useful.

    Thanks,

    Alok

I just faced this issue and found this forum post. Goodness, what a user-hostile bank website! Thanks for the workaround though @aloksharma!
