using version 7: can't add new items ["new item" in File menu is not operable]

How do I add new items in 1Password 7? Previous versions had a '+' button.
In the File menu there is "New Item" but it is faded out on my Mac and doesn't respond when selected.

    Hi @jamesgray! Welcome to the forum!

    It sounds like your 1Password app is in read only mode. Have you already added your 1Password account to it, or applied your license to the app to activate it?

    Thanks for your reply, after i posted I discovered that a license had to be purchased. Problem solved.
