Failure when trying to enable Privacy.com integration

I open 1Password preferences and select the Browsers tab. I click on Privacy.com integration in the Safari area. A tab opens in Safari to Privacy.com, to which I am already logged in. I select my account and go down to the Integrations area and click on Connect in the 1Password region. I get the Connect 1Password? dialog and click Continue. I get the Add to 1Password modal dialog and click Add to 1Password. It produces an error that just says, "Unable to enable the Privacy integration. Please try again later. I'm attaching a screenshot.

Best,
David

Could you check to make sure you're using the latest version of 1Password X? Do you have a valid funding source set up? Do you live within the US? The integration is currently limited to the US.

Another user over here had the same issue.

I'm using Safari 14.0.1, and as I understand it 1Password X for Safari is baked into 1Password 7.7; is this not correct? I do have a valid funding source set up, and can create cards on the Privacy.com web site and manually copy them into fields in Safari. And I reside in Portland, OR in the US. Anything else I can check for you? Is there a log I can look at?

    Best,
    David

One other thing may or may not be relevant. The account I am doing all this from does not have administrative privileges. I have a separate administrative account on my machine. Doesn't seem like that should affect anything, but I thought I would mention it.

1Password X is a separate browser extension, which is currently available for Chrome and Firefox. The Safari extension is a different thing, although we built it in a way that it looks like 1Password X, so that if you switch browsers, you can have a similar experience.

Are things working for you in 1Password X in Chrome or Firefox?

OK, now I'm really confused. Everything works fine in both Safari and Firefox for any normal 1Password activity, except for Privacy.com integration. If I look in the Browsers pane of the 1Password 7 preferences, I see Privacy.com integration only in the Safari region. And of course that's what I'm trying to enable. What am I missing here? Am I supposed to be able to enable Privacy.com integration in 1Password X 1.22.3 under Firefox somehow? And if I am, how do I do that and are you asking me to test it?

OK, I figured out how to do it in Firefox. It all seems to work there. But if I go back then to 1Password 7 preferences and turn on Privacy.com in the Safari area, nothing seems to happen. I also notice that even though 1Password 7 was unlocked, 1Password X in Firefox prompted me for my master password again. Is it possible that the left hand and the right hand aren't talking to one another?

By "nothing seems to happen," I mean that if I go to a site and try to check out in Firefox now, it prompts me to create a Privacy card, but if I go to the same site in Safari, it does not.

    @David Lewis

Would you be able to send us a diagnostic report from your Mac? We can get that over to development and see if they can spot any issues in the logs. Yes, Privacy.com integration should work with Safari. My apologies for that slip up.

The diagnostic report doesn't include any private information like your logins, Master Password, or Secret Key:

Please send that report to support@1Password.com Be sure to include the following information with your submission.

Acting on the suggestion of your colleague Michael Carlyle, I enabled beta downloads and installed 1Password 7 Version 7.7.1.BETA-3 (70701003) 1Password Beta. It fixed the problem, so it would be worth a try for anyone else having a similar issue.

  • @David Lewis

That's excellent news. I am happy to hear things are working for you, and thank you for sticking with us on this journey. Mental note on the beta made.

I'm going to send my diagnostics.
    MacBook Air (M1, 2020)
    Big Sur 11.1
    1Password 7 Beta
    Version 7.7.1.BETA-6 (70701006)

Privacy Cards don't work. I get the create card dialog, but the card won't create.

OK. I spent some more time running through things I had tried some time ago, probably with an earlier Beta.

    1. removed Safari > Prefs > Privacy > Website Data > privacy.com
    2. toggled 1P > Prefs > Browsers > Safari > privacy.com integration
    3. was sent to privacy.com > Account > Integrations where I revoked and connected 1P
    4. back to Safari where I then successfully added a card to Lowes.com

I am very happy to get this working.
