Unlock with apple watch not working on a 2017 Macbook Pro

I can unlock the OS just fine (the login screen) but don't see the option to unlock with apple watch in the security settings.

Tried both stable & beta builds, both apple watch and app are updated on osx / ios / apple watch

Added specifications below

    Hi @krzkz94

    This feature requires a Mac with a Secure Enclave.

    Secure Enclave overview - Apple Support

    Specifically for MacBook Pro models that would be:

    • MacBook Pro with Touch Bar model year 2016 and newer
    • MacBook Pro without Touch Bar model year 2018 and newer

    Does the MacBook Pro in question have a Touch Bar? If not, it appears it would not have a Secure Enclave and as such would not be compatible, unfortunately.
