Am I using right extension for Mac with fingerprint ID?

I have an early 2020 MacBook Air with Touch ID. I recently switched back to Safari. I cannot get 1PW to accept my fingerprint ID. I get an "Open 1PW" button that opens in the page login box, but when I press it usually nothing happens. If I do get 1PW to open using the icon in the toolbar or in the dock, it wants my master password, but even after putting it in, it will never accept a fingerprint. It just keeps telling me to enter the master password. I checked the extensions page in Preferences. The extension I have installed is just listed as "1Password 7.7". Is there another Safari extension that would work better or something else I could do here? Thanks.
