works to get the update to complete.

Hi @michael777! Welcome to the forum!
Nothing works to get the update to complete.
Can you please elaborate on this? What happens exactly when the update does not complete? Do you see an error message, or does the update just get stuck?

Checked force quit. Safari and 1Password 7 are not open
-Press update in App Store
-Wait for circle to complete
-Receive pop up
“Close this app to update”
“Press continue to quit “1Password 7” and
Complete the update”
-Receive pop up
“1Password 7” is trying to unlock
Touch ID or enter your password to allow this”
-pressed Touch ID button
-1Password 7 opens normally
-Close 1Password 7
-1Password 7 still appears in App Store

Can you check that 1Password mini is not running in your menu bar, at the top of the screen. If it is, can you please try quitting 1Password completely (right-click on 1Password mini in the menu bar at the top right of your screen > Quit 1Password Completely), and see if you can continue with the update now?

Didn't realize that an app could be open in the menu bar. I quit it and
the update worked.
