Username set as password field does not work

Options

Hi

my bank has a login form, where both username and password are set as "password" type (from the HTML point of view): https://www.bancagenerali.it/pib/sso/login/pin
In this way only 1 of the fields are saved, and auto-filled, and it is very annoying.

I've tried with all the following, but none work:

  • save as new 1P item
  • use 1PX extension
  • use 1P normal/application extension

The only manual test solution that works, is to change the username type from "password" to "text" (document.getElementById('passCrypt').type='text').

Here you can find the form exported through the 1PX "Collect Page Details" option:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/wzf5u2opfpyfmei/1P-bank-form-export.json?dl=0

Tested on macOS 11.1, with both Chrome and Firefox

thank you
Marco

Hi @marcar82! Welcome to the forum!

I was able to get 1Password to fill both fields in 1Password 7.7 with extension 4.7.5.90 ;) I have used this method:

How to save a Login manually in your browser

Can you please give that a try and see if it works for you too?

    Hi @ag_ana
    thank you for your tests.

yes, I've already saved them manually, but it does not work.
I've tried with a lot of different field labels in 1P, but I cannot make it works
How have you saved them? Can you show a screenshot? Also of the "1P web form details"

    thank you

    Hey @marcar82 ,

We've recently added support for usernames that are set as type=password fields, and it seems to work correctly. Here's a video of me testing it with 1Password X beta: http://recordit.co/Hvn8cqGvcs

And here's a video of me testing it with the latest 1Password 7 beta for Mac: http://recordit.co/Gl6DZ4puol

I do believe it should work with the stable version of 1Password X and 1Password 7 for Mac, as Ana mentioned above that it worked for here in the test she performed.

I hope these videos will point you in the right direction.

    Hi @ag_yaron

thank you, I've just tested it with 1PXbeta and confirm that it works, but ... 1PX does not have the TouchID support, as the other 1P browser extension that I use usually.
It is really "annoying" without it ... When will it be added?

    thank you
    Marco

1Password X's Touch ID feature was temporarily removed last year. An announcement is posted in our forum from one of our founders. It includes details on what the future holds. https://1password.community/discussion/115228/temporarily-removing-desktop-app-integration/p1

We hope to bring it back as soon as possible. I know all of us are also anxious to see the feature return.

This should also work with the companion extension @marcar82 .

You can try it by updating your 1Password 7 for Mac to the latest beta: https://support.1password.com/betas
Then try saving a new login on the page and see if it autofills both fields correctly.
