How to prevent family members from changing shared passwords (i.e. give them read-only access)?
I have family members who are not tech-savy. They have accidentally changed shared passwords (in 1Password) without changing the actual password on the corresponding website.
For them, I'd like to give them read-only access (i.e. they never need to add a new password or change an existing one). How do I do that?

I also would prefer such option.

You can give them View only access by going to the page below and clicking on the relevant vault:

I don't see the option.

If I click on the link above I see a list of my vaults. Clicking on any of the vaults I get a list of the people showing the type of access each has. Clicking the cog symbol next to each name allows you to change the type of access.

Ok. Finally I see it. I was initially looking the shared vault and not at the additionally created vaults. In shared there's no option to manage. Thanks.

Correct, the shared vault is shared between all members of the family. It has no settings to exclude members.

Does it mean anyone can make changes in that folder or only the account head?

Items in the default shared folder (Families) can be edited by all family members. If you're looking for something else such as read only. You can create a new vault to accomplish your goal.

If I create a temp vault for someone and then delete after a day or 2 then does it count towards my vaults?

You can have as many vaults as you need.

I’m on family plan then would I be charged accordingly?

You are not charged by the vault. If you're looking to give someone temporary access, our guest access feature may help. Guests are limited to using a single vault. The family plan includes the use of guests.

So with my families account I can invite 5 guests. They need to have 1Password. Their apps gets updated? I’ll try tomorrow further and seek help if any questions.

Yes, up to 5 guests. Sounds good!
