Master Password Recovery

I work for IBM and installed 1password last year but lost all of my master password information. I tried requesting that my email address be removed so I could start all over. I reinstalled 1password7 on my MacBook Pro but I cannot find my emergency kit or any information on my Mac of my Master Password. Please advise the best path forward. I am happy to begin everything all over if necessary.

If needed you company admin may be be able to help you with an account recovery, if this is related to work. If it's personal, the following may help.

    • Please let us know if you have any questions before proceeding.

You can delete your personal 1Password account so you can start over with a new Master Password and Secret Key. If you're okay with deleting the account, you can follow these steps.

    1. Open https://start.1password.com/support in a browser, enter the email address your account is under, and click Continue.
    2. Click the blue button in the email you receive to view your account(s).
    3. Click the account you want to delete.
    4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and confirm you'd like to delete the account by clicking Delete account.

You can then sign up for a new account here: https://start.1password.com/sign-up

Be sure to save your Emergency Kit and write your Master Password on it so you can sign in if your account details are lost in the future: https://support.1password.com/emergency-kit/

    Then on the Mac:

When you are ready to proceed, use the instructions below to reset the Mac app and allow it to be setup anew. ( If needed )

    • The following instructions will remove all data from the Mac app. I was unsure if you had work data saved on this device. If so, this would also remove that data. Please make sure you have your Emergency Key and Master Password for that account.
    1. Open or bring 1Password to the front.

    2. Click on Help (at the very top of the screen to the right of the Apple icon) > Troubleshooting > Reset All 1Password Data. You will be asked to type in a code, and you need to copy it as is, hyphens included.

    3. Click on Delete Data and Start Over. * This only removes local data and doesn't affect your membership. At this point, 1Password will quit and disappear off your screen.

    4. Open 1Password again on your Mac, and there will be two choices - New to 1Password? Or Used 1Password before?

    • For 1Password.com memberships: Under 'Used 1Password before' select 1Password.com option, sign into the new account.
  • thanks I will contact my Helpdesk asking for the correct admin for 1password
