Mac Mini M1, Big Sur no Safari extension?

Hi folks,
I have gone around and around and can't figure this out. I have a new M1 Mac Mini running Big Sur 11.2. Have been a 1Password user for years, currently have 1P ver 7.7. I just reinstalled it, logged in, all info looks good. I did not get asked to install it in Safari and under 1 Password, when I pull down "Install Browser Extensions", it takes me to a web page that shows Safari extension included in 1Password. In Safari, if I pull down View, Customize Toolbar, I don't see a 1Password icon to add to the toolbar. I do have Adblock Plus in the list. I have quit 1Password and Safari and restarted, but still can't figure out how to get it in the menu bar so I can access passwords without leaving the browser and opening the app. Thanks for links or tips. John

Have you given1Password a complete quit? Please try these steps and let me know how it goes.

    1. Quit Safari.
    2. Look for our helper in the menu bar near the WiFi indicator and the clock. Right-click on the helper and select quit 1Password completely. Wait a few seconds and then open 1Password from the Dock or the Applications folder.

1Password should show up within Safari. You should not need to use "Install Browser Extensions"

You might also try a restart of your Mac.

Thank You! I didn't know 1Password was up there! I restarted my Mac. Went up to the 1Password icon in menu bar; was prompted for password. Entered password and was told "turn on extension in safari extensions". clicked blue bar, safari extensions opened, I clicked 1Password, got a security check, and it's now visible in the top strip of Safari. Again, thank you, I went round and round and logged in to 1Password and the 1 Password web site. Cheers, John

PS, this was likely compounded by my very recent purchase of a new Mac Mini M1 chip. The old Mini ran fine, but was not upgradeable to Big Sur and 1Password7 (I think) needed an operating system more recent than what I had. I had been limping along with opening the full app when I needed a password.

  • You're welcome. 1Password 7 is different in some respects. If you have any questions we're here to help. Write any time. :chuffed:
