How to setup 1password on my MacBook Pro M1

I'm not sure if 1Pasword 7 version 7.7 is the version I should be using on my MacBook Pro M1. I use DropBox to sync on my iPhone & iPad, no problems. When 1Password 7 launches I do not see my 255 logins. Now I'm at a window DROPBOX SYNC Sync primary vault with Dropbox - IMPORT Select the source of your data for instructions on how to import it??? 1Password Keychain - 1Password 6 - Older 1Password... Not sure what to select? Any help would be much appreciated.

1Password Version: 7.7
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: macOS Big Sur 11.2
Sync Type: DropBox
Referrer: forum-search:Sync primary vault with dropbox - select source of data?

1Password 7.7 will work with an M1 Mac using Rosetta 2. If you used 1Password 6 previously and just now moved to 1Password 7, your data file is likely in a format that 1Password 7 no longer uses. If that's the case, you'll need to convert the data to the new type. Use the 1Password Keychain and 1Password 6, if that's your previous version of 1Password.

Once you do that you will need to point your iOS devices at the new format. The old format is .agilkeychain and the new would be .opvault. Once the conversion is complete the .agilekeychain will be named legacy.agilekeychain.

Which version of 1Password did you use previously?

I was using 1Password version 6.8.8 on my old Apple computer - I followed the instructions in the link you provided and when I go to my Dropbox 1Password folder I now see 2 items. 1Password.agilekeychain and 1Password.opvault When I go to the SYNC tab in 1Password preferences, I see alsm1>Dropbox>1Password>1Password.opvault and it shows a last synced timestamp but I still do not see any of my password info.

    @hikeral

It sounds like you created a new .opvault. Did you complete the steps with the import from keychain steps to bring over your previous data?

When I go to File Import... the Import selection is greyed out.

Can you elaborate more if possible? When I create a new vault (empty) with 1Password 7. Then from the File > Import selection at the top of the page I am presented with this option.

    Edit: Is 1Password unlocked?

I downloaded 1Password 7 from this website - https://1password.com/downloads/mac/ and ran the install.
I selected Dropbox. I ran the Rosetta install. I am able to input my 1Password password and start the 1Password application but I can't follow the instruction that says "From 1Password's menu at the top of your screen, choose File > Import and click the top option ("1Password Keychain") Navigate to the Agile Keychain you have in your Dropbox folder, select it, and follow the prompts to import your data.
I can not select Import (it's greyed out).

  • @hikeral

If you double click on the (.agilekeychain) file in Dropbox are you offered any prompts?

I received a dialog box Can't sync with Agile Keychain files. This vault is in the Agile Keychain format, which can't be synced directly. To open it, import it into an existing vault.
Two options are given CANCEL or IMPORT

  • @hikeral

Does the import button allow you to import your data into the new file?

When I clicked the import button it brought me to another dialog box saying where is your data coming from? Select the source of your data for instructions on how to import it. The options in the left panel are: one password keychain, one password six, older one password, lastPass, splashID, other.

I'm pretty sure that I have already been through this dialogue box and selected one password 6

If I select the radial button next to one password six there is a field in the right panel that says import into and there is a blank box below it that will not let me make a selection, there is also a choose file button that is grayed out.

I thought I had things worked out, but I have run into another snag. I attempted to edit one of my 1Password passwords tonight on my MacBook Pro running macOS Big Sur version 11.2 and I am missing an all important button in my 1Password app, the EDIT button. I had a need to make a change to one of my passwords tonight so I made the change on my iPhone. I checked my iPad and my MacBook and the change successfully migrated to my iPad but unfortunately not to my MacBook. One last note, I am constantly receiving a (Subscribe Today - Get your first month free). Maybe I have installed the incorrect 1Password application?

This is very likely the problem. It might be something simpler however: have you applied your license to the 1Password app already?

I paid for and have been using 1Password using a standalone vault using Dropbox for many years. is it still possible to accomplish this or is everyone needing to pay an ongoing fee for the 1Password service? I read something on MacRumors that speaks to this issue: 1Password has restored the option for customers who originally purchased its iOS app to create a local vault during setup, after users queued up online to voice their frustrations with the fact that the option was silently removed in an update.

The Canadian password management service caused a string of complaints on Reddit and elsewhere earlier this month when a v7.3.3 update to the 1Password iOS app removed the free-to-use local vault option from the app setup process without alerting users to the change.

Withdrawing the option meant that users who reinstalled the iOS app for whatever reason could no longer configure a local vault on their device, even if they'd paid an upfront fee for the app or bought the Pro in-app purchase in the past for exactly this purpose.

The change meant that users looking to maintain local vaults on iPhone or iPad had to either pay for a 1Password membership, or sync their iOS device with a standalone vault created by 1Password for Mac or 1Password Windows – both of which require a subscription.

The good news is that 1Password has listened to user feedback, and the latest update, v7.3.4, restores the ability to create standalone vaults from setup to customers who had previously purchased 1Password 4 for iOS or the Pro Features in-app purchase.

This is still possible. Can you please answer my question? Can you confirm that you have already applied your license to the 1Password app?

You can check it under the License... menu:

I did pay the $64.99 and applied the license. Thanks for your patients with me. Are there step-by-step instructions on the 1Password site that will guid me to Changing vaults on my iPhone and iPad from agilekeychain to opvault?

In the couple minutes since my last comment, I have it all figured out and I feel that I'm back in business with all my Apple devices. Thanks for your support.
