Different user account on mac has old password from before I moved to 7.

I have several user accounts on each computer that I logon to for different reasons. I just opened one I had not used for a long time and found that it won't let me login to 1Password. It gives me an old hint from when I used to have the standalone version (I have had several old versions). My initial thought was to just delete the app and download a fresh copy, but I'm wondering if there might be some leftover pieces from one of the old apps somewhere on the computer causing the problem. The issue exists on two different computers: MBA with 10.15.7 and MBA with 11.1.

    It sounds like the install was never pointed at your membership. I assume membership because you mentioned you used to have the standalone version.

    If that's the case, download 1Password again will not help. Instead, you'll need to do one of two things.

    1. Unlock the app and add your account. Then remove the Primary vault. *Requires previous Master Password.

    Or

    1. Reset the app if you do not know the previous Master Password. This will let you set it up anew.

    Please ensure that you can log in to https://my.1password.com and know your Master Password. Also, print out a copy of your Emergency Kit if you have not already done so. When you are ready to proceed, use the instructions below to reset the Mac app and allow it to be set up anew.

    1. Open or bring 1Password to the front.

    2. Click on Help (at the very top of the screen to the right of the Apple icon) > Troubleshooting > Reset All 1Password Data. You will be asked to type in a code, and you need to copy it as is, hyphens included.

    3. Click on Delete Data and Start Over. * This only removes local data and doesn't affect your membership. At this point, 1Password will quit and disappear off your screen.

    4. Open 1Password again on your Mac, and there will be two choices - New to 1Password? Or Used 1Password before?

    • For 1Password.com memberships: Under 'Used 1Password before' select 1Password.com option, sign into the account.

    I've had my subscription since 2019. I will Reset the app, as I no longer remember that old master password. Thanks!
