Only one vault in read-only-mode: Issue or Demo-Mode?

For switching from my old MacBook Air (Mac OS 10.3, 1Password 6) to a new one (Big Sur, M1 Chip) I installed the 1Password 7 Beta to see if it works. After the switch I can only add one vault (of total 3). This vault is in read-only mode. I can see all entries but can't add a new one. The vault is located on a network drive to share it with others. With 1Password 6 this worked fine.

Are these limitations (only one vault, read-only) are because it's the unregistered beta version? Or does 1Password have problems with the M1-Chip?

  • @joernrings,

Thanks for writing in with your question. Both the read-only vault and only being able to add the one vault are limitations of the unregistered mode. 1Password 7 isn't a free upgrade from 1Password 6 so you would need to either buy a standalone license in 1Password 7 or upgrade to a 1Password Membership to move forward there.

Okay. Thank you. Good to know - because I thought it's a bug 😄
Is it correct that there's no upgrade discount for exiting customers coming from 1Password 6?

  • Hey @joernrings

If you're interested in a 1Password membership please write in to support@1password.com and we'll be happy to see what we can do. Unfortunately we are unable to offer discounts on licenses.

    Ben
