'Click and Fill' doesn't work from within the 1Password app. I have to use the Chrome extension to 'open and fill'. Is that expected?

I have the app & browser extension installed, preference 'always keep browser extension running' is checked.
When I click the website field of login items, my default browser (Chrome) launches and navigates to that URL, but the username & password fields aren't filled in.

Chrome: 88.0.4324.150 (Official Build) (x86_64)
1Password Chrome extension: 1.23.0

1Password Version: 7.7 (70700016)
Extension Version: 7.7 (70700016) / Mac App Store
OS Version: macOS 11.2 (20D64)
Sync Type: Not Provided

  • Hi @mr_fixit,

Thanks for writing in with your question.

Indeed open and fill does require an extension in order to work, however it appears you have the wrong extension installed if you want that to work with the native application. You will need to swap the extension you have installed with the "classic" version that's available here.

    Thanks. Most sites work now.

There are site-specific glitches, such as a bank website on which my creds are filled in, but then the PW disappears after a few seconds. Is the 'classic extension' still evolving? If so, I'll fill an bug report.

  • @mr_fixit,

The classic extension itself isn't being improved, but the filling solutions used by it are still being improved in 1Password for Mac.
